DOJ and Riverside Sheriff’s Office Raid Yorkshire Assisted Living in Hemet Amid Elder Abuse Investigation

Yorkshire-300x156A major elder abuse investigation is underway at Yorkshire Assisted Living and Memory Care in Hemet after California law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at the facility and removed several residents who required emergency medical care. Yorkshire Village is licensed for 100 beds and at the time of the search was running near full, with about 95 in its care according to reports.

At Nursing Home Law Group, we are closely monitoring this developing investigation. We are already speaking with families who have loved ones at Yorkshire Assisted Living and are investigating potential claims arising out of the care provided at the facility.

Multi-Agency Investigation Began After Ombudsman Complaint

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began in 2025 after the California Department of Aging’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program reported allegations of general neglect involving a resident at Yorkshire Assisted Living and Memory Care.

As investigators looked into the initial complaint, they reportedly identified additional potential victims of elder abuse and neglect. Authorities have stated that investigators uncovered concerns regarding patient care as well as the facility’s handling of complaints made against staff. As the investigation expanded, the California Department of Justice’s Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse joined the case along with numerous county and state agencies. The investigation remains active, and no arrests have been announced.

Search Warrant Executed; Residents Transported to Hospitals

On June 10, 2026, investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and the California Department of Justice served a search warrant at Yorkshire Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Medical personnel from Riverside University Health System, Adult Protective Services, the California Department of Aging, and Community Care Licensing officials also participated in the operation.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, several residents were found to require additional medical treatment and were transported to local hospitals during the operation. Authorities have not released further details regarding the conditions of those residents or the specific allegations under investigation.

Yorkshire Village has publicly denied any wrongdoing and has stated that it is cooperating with investigators. The facility has also asserted that the residents transported to hospitals were hospice patients and disputes the characterization of the events. Those statements have not altered the ongoing criminal investigation.

Families Deserve Answers

When law enforcement agencies including the California Department of Justice, Adult Protective Services, Community Care Licensing, and medical personnel all respond to an assisted living facility at the same time, it signals that authorities have significant concerns about resident safety.

While every investigation must run its course, families deserve to know whether their loved ones received appropriate care and whether warning signs of neglect were overlooked.

If your loved one currently resides at Yorkshire Assisted Living, or recently lived there, it is important to preserve medical records, photographs, communications with the facility, and any other documentation that may help explain what occurred. Families should also consider obtaining complete hospital records if their loved one was transferred during or after the June 10 operation.
